Steve collected two bronze awards in the Guild of Photographers monthly competition for May, one of them for this maternity portrait of Jackie Gathungu. Each bronze is awarded two points, a silver four points and a gold 7. A platinum award receives 10 points, but no one has achieved this distinction yet because it requires a perfect score of 100 points.
The competition runs from January to October. Photographers who collect 24 points or above become a member of the Photographers Bar. Steve became a member in 2020 and again 2021. The this distinction is given to members of The Guild who demonstrate a consistent high level of photographic quality in the national competition.
He has received 9 bronze and 1 silver awards in 2022 so currently has 22 points.
