A black and white photograph of 4 siblings is a classical portrait style

Part of Blitz Photography’s mission is to push the boundaries of the photography we produce, stretching ourselves and delivering the best quality for our customers. While our customers needs are foremost in our minds, Steve has a passion for photography and story telling that goes beyond simply running a business.

If you have visited us you will know that you’re not just having a camera pointed at you, you are helping the creative process. Collaboration is key to any creative endeavour. Steve believes it is the Photographer’s responsibility to harness and channel the energy of people in the studio and focus it in a visual way that makes perfect sense when seen in a portrait.

To this end we have working on a new photography style for the studio since January. A couple of years ago we visited the National Gallery in Edinburgh and viewing the Classic Portraits sparked an idea. We posted a Model Call on our Facebook Page and our customers came up trumps. Over the last 7 weeks we have been shooting some really lovely portraits with children who responded fantastically. Each one has been able to express their personality and style.

Each child’s character is different and it is our goal during these Art Portrait sessions to show something authentic. The reason for the model call was to help perfect our techniques and to see the idea age for those modelling. It turns out that these poses and lighting work for any children that can stand independently. We have loved trying this new style and are now able to offer this to our customers that are looking for a timeless classic look to our Child Portraits.
